Samsung cut Nokia’s worldwide lead from 10% to just 4% in 2011 and Apple passed up LG. 2012 will likely see continued rise of Samsung and Apple in the global phone market. I argued for the huge growth of Windows Phone in 2012 and lost this week, but I am left wondering how Microsoft and Nokia can realize serious growth of a fantastic platform. Do you have any ideas for how Windows Phone can become the 3rd platform?

The first Nokia Windows Phone will be available on January 11th for $50. The Lumia 710 is not as attractive as the Lumia 800, but it is still a solid smartphone for the new buyer. While the Nokia Lumia 800 is available outside the U.S., we have yet to see a new Windows Phone here. T-Mobile and Nokia are holding an event next week and indications are that it will be for the Lumia 710.
